eyes closed

"When your eyes are closed she may leave you floating" is a performance work for two dancers and a narrator/violinist. The narrative is about the disaffection of one person for another because of a preoccupation with work or possessions. The narrative is based on the painting by Paul Marquardt of the same name. The set, sound structure, and MIDI violin design are by artist Paul Marquardt. The choreography is by Patricia Plasko.

The violin used in this performance is a five stringed instrument designed and constructed by Paul Marquardt . It is a MIDI (musical instrument digital interface) instrument used to trigger sound from a digital sampler and control MIDI sound sequences on a computer.

The sound structure is a combination of live and computer sequenced sound triggered by the MIDI violin played by the narrator. Projections are also controlled by the narrator.
